Don’t listen to diet culture

The holidays are over(ish) and the new year begins in less than a week. Which means you’re about to be hit with an onslaught of diet culture promises preying on your insecurities.

Let this be a reminder that you’re enough, just as you are. You’re worthy of respect, just as you are. You’re desirable, intelligent, passionate, beautiful, and brave, just as you are.

And please, for the love of Him whose birth we just celebrated and who created YOU just as you are — eat something. You don’t need to ignore your hunger, or earn your food. Today and every day, keep eating.

Because you deserve to eat, not starve.

Because you deserve to live your life, not restrict.

Because you deserve to take up space, not shrink.

Because you deserve to be you, not someone else.

Rather than reinvent yourself to be someone you’re not, get to know the NOW you better.

Stay strong my friends. If you’re being bombarded by wellness culture, you are allowed to get angry about it! Then get curious, and redefine what YOU want for 2020.

“New year, new You” — The You that will say no to not believing you’re enough. The You that remembers who you are, why you’re here, and where you’re going. The You that’s capable of so much more than being looked at. The You that can honor and trust her body. The You that finds worth from within and above. Just do You.
